Helena returned to Ashland in “SHIRLEY VALENTINE,” a joyful and moving comedy by Willy Russell about a housewife determined to shake up her humdrum existence.
“ SHIRLEY VALENTINE” tells the story of a Liverpool woman whose life has grown so conscribed that she talks to the wall while making her husband’s monotonous “chips ‘n’ egg” dinners. Then a friend wins an all-expenses-paid vacation for two and invites her along. With a burst of courage and a seven-word note – “Gone to Greece, back in two weeks” – her adventure in self-transformation begins.
This award-winning one-woman play ran for over 2 months during the summer of 2009 at OREGON STAGE WORKS, in Ashland, OR--held over twice, due to popular demand.
