About Helena

Helena de Crespo was born in Barcelona, Spain, and educated in Bristol, England, before attending RADA (The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) in London. She was one of the youngest students to attend, recipient of a double scholarship, but was already a many time provincial Eisteddfod winner. She simultaneously studied at London University receiving their Diploma in Dramatic Art, and is also a diplomatist of The London Guildhall of Music and Drama. Recently, she graduated as an arts' administrator through ACUCAA at the University of Wisconsin.

As an actress (see attached CV resume), Helena has performed all over the UK in theatre, television and radio, and has been featured in television, film, and theatre in the US. She is a member of Actors' Equity in Britain, Actors' Equity US, The Screen Actors' Guild (SAG), and The American Federation of Music and Radio Artists (AFTRA).
In Colombia, South America, Helena, under contract to Colcultura, The Department of Culture of the Colombian Government, was a resident lecturer at La Escuela Nacional del Artes Dramaticas at el Teatro Colon in Bogotá. With El Grupo deTeatro 502, her work was seen in Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela as well as Colombia, for which she received the ONDRA award.
In Costa Rica, Central America, Helena worked directly with the Presidential Palace in San Jose, and instituted programs in drama at the suggestion of UNESCO. A cultural center was opened in her name: La Casa del Cultura Helena de Crespo.
Helena has received funding for her work in the US from the National Endowment of the Arts, the Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Mobil Corporation, and the Virginia Arts Council.
Helena is at present a resident in Portland, Oregon, where she is "Talking Heads" by Alan Bennett for a national tour with Worcester Productions: "Bed Among the Lentils," "The Outside Dog," and "Waiting For the Telegram." For more information on the tour click HERE.
